Dan gets a great deal of satisfaction from helping those who have been injured in an accident or who have been wrongfully denied benefits by their insurance company. He has chosen to devote his career to Plaintiff Personal Injury work in the Northwest.

Dan has practiced with, and learned from, the most senior plaintiff personal injury lawyers in Thunder Bay and Northwestern Ontario, including Danial Newton, Roy Macgillivray, and Kristopher Knutsen.

Dan is also a former law clerk for the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, where he spent his articling year working for the Superior Court Judges of Thunder Bay and Northwestern Ontario.

Dan has taught Professional Responsibility and Alternative Dispute Resolution at Lakehead University, Faculty of Law.

He is also a coach of the Lakehead University, Faculty of Law’s Ontario Trial Lawyers Association Moot Competition Team, where he prepares law students for a trial advocacy competition.

Dan sits on the Brain Injury Association of Thunder Bay and Area (“BIATBA”) Board of Directors and is a past member of the Thunder Bay “AAA” Kings Board of Directors.

In his spare time, Dan enjoys running and cross-country skiing with his dog, Hunter, playing squash and hockey, and spending time with his family.

Dan’s Experience

Dan focuses on the areas of Plaintiff Personal Injury and Insurance, including motor vehicle accident claims (both tort and accident benefits), occupier’s liability claims (trip and falls, slip and falls), Long and Short Term disability claims, property damage claims, and Canada Pension Plan-Disability Appeals.

Dan was called to the bar in 2012 and moved to Thunder Bay in 2011 to clerk for the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, Northwest region, in Thunder Bay.

Dan has appeared before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Ontario Court of Justice, the Canada Pension Plan Disability Review Tribunal, the Social Security Tribunal, and the Small Claims Court. His work takes him to Dryden, Ignace, Kenora, Sioux Lookout, Red Lake, Atikokan, Nipigon, and many other Northwestern Ontario communities.

Dan is proud to call his home Thunder Bay, and to practice law in Northwestern Ontario.
