White Macgillivray Lester Donates Bike Helmets
The team from White Macgillivray Lester LLP was at Sherbrooke School on June 14, 2018 hosting a bike rally and giving out free bike helmets to all of the students. In total, 140 students from kindergarten to grade 8 received helmets. All of the helmets were donated by White Macgillivray Lester and the Brain Injury Association of Thunder Bay and Area.
The students also received cycling education from our community partners, Thunder Bay District Health Unit, Ecosuperior and the Thunder Bay Police.
The donations were part of the Ontario Trial Lawyers’ Association Helmets on Kids campaign where injury lawyers across Ontario donate helmets to school children and organize safe cycling events. Across Ontario, over 4,000 helmets were donated by injury lawyers working to make their communities safe.
The Helmets on Kids campaign was started in Thunder Bay by White Macgillivray Lester’s Duncan Macgillivray in 2012 and has now given out more than 1,400 helmets. Duncan says that giving out the helmets and seeing the smiling faces on the kids makes the annual Helmets on Kids rally one of the highlights of the year.
Community work and safety education are key goals for OTLA and for White Macgillivray Lester. Wearing a helmet makes a big difference in injury prevention when cycling. Some catastrophic injuries can be prevented or at least made less serious by wearing a helmet.
