Jeff Moorley, BA, J.D.

Born and raised in Northwestern Ontario, it is Jeff’s privilege to practice law in the region he calls home.

Jeff’s practice focuses on motor vehicle collisions, occupiers’ liability (e.g., slip and falls), and insurance disputes (e.g., long-term disability denials).

Jeff earned his Juris Doctor degree from the Queen’s University’s Faculty of Law. While at Queen’s, Jeff founded the Queen’s Personal Injury Law Club and performed in their first mock personal injury trial featuring some of the top lawyers in that field. Jeff’s academic success at Queen’s Law led to him being selected to be a tutor to other law students. He also worked at Correctional Law Project (Millhaven and Bath Institutions) as a student caseworker and volunteered with the Queen’s Law Journal and Pro Bono Students Canada.

Before law school, Jeff graduated from Lakehead University with a Bachelor of Arts Psychology degree. He earned multiple academic awards and graduated as the highest-ranking student in both his year and program.

Since returning home to the North, Jeff has dedicated his practice to helping those who have been injured in an accident or who have had their insurance benefits wrongly denied. For Jeff, the practice of law is about providing a client-focused service. He understands that his clients are often going through what may be the most challenging time of their lives. Jeff gets a great deal of satisfaction out of helping his clients through these times, and seeing their successful reintegration back into our community. Witnessing these positive changes motivates Jeff to achieve the best outcome for his clients.

Jeff believes in giving back to our community. He sits on the Board of Directors for Thunder Bay Counselling – a local provider of mental health services. He has coached Lakehead University’s Bora Laskin Faculty of Law team in the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association Cup — a province-wide personal injury mock trial – since the first year the law school began competing in that moot.

Jeff is the Thunder Bay member of Young Advocates’ Standing Committee for The Advocates’ Society – a national not-for-profit association of over 5,000 lawyers, and is particularly proud to be a member of their True North working group — their special outreach on northern and Indigenous issues.

In his spare time, Jeff loves to head outdoors with his high-energy golden retriever, Jasper.
